Our Mission
Program, supported by Gates Capital Management Center for Financial Analysis helps to prepare students for internship and full-time positions in competitive finance careers including:
Investment Banking
Asset Management
Private Equity and other Buy-side Finance
Management Consulting
Academic &
Technical Skills
Finance Scholars are required to complete specialized finance coursework developed to prepare them for target sectors. They also complete technical skill courses such as Wall Street Prep and Training the Street, as well as attend workshops in financial modeling, firm valuation, portfolio management, etc.
Staying Current
with the Industry
Weekly meetings (7:30am, Fridays) for alumni engagement, workshops, and capital market readings and discussions help to stay current with the industry. Scholars also participate in national finance student competitions and benefit from industry-focused training resources.
Group and individual trips to connect and network with alumni and friends in major finance hubs, such as, New York, Boston, Chicago, London, Minneapolis, Dallas, etc. are also important bridges to the industry.
Career Prep &
Networking
Dedicated finance career coach helps students to review resumes, prepare for interviews, and make connections to companies and available opportunities. Scholars also participate in an executive mentorship program with K-State alumni in target finance sectors.
Additional
Program Benefits
In addition to above benefits, Finance Scholars receive $1,000-$4,000 per year scholarship depending on the rank within the program and the level of engagement and activity. Exceptional students also qualify for bonus scholarship funds. Students with internships in higher-cost of living areas also receive housing support funds to help cover costs over summers.
